Hera, a building dated back to the Venetian period of Crete from the 12th A.C. century, is a small Traditional Hotel consisting of 3 studios and one room.
Hera Traditional Hotel is constructed of stone and wood. It Is located in one of the most famous old roads in old Chania town, near Theotokopoulou str. It was named after Dominicus Theotokopoulos, 'El Greco', and is a road running next to the old Venetian Harbour of Chania which is well preserved and of unique beauty.
Theotokopoulou street is mostly well known for its Venetian and Neoclassical buildings and is located only 10 minutes walking from all the museums and the commercial center of Chania. It is an attractive street leading down to the harbor where Venetian mansions with strong oriental configurations in addition to Neo-classical buildings are to be found. Wooden balconies and latticed windows embellish the district. This area has been called Tophanas since Turkish occupation when canons and ammunition were stored in the area. It was a prosperous part of the town and had been a residential area for the Christian aristocrats. At the end of the street, just before you reach the harbour you’ll see the temple of San Salvadore. This was formerly a monastery of Franciscan monks and now houses a collection of Byzantine artwork. .
The building of Hera is approximately 60 meters from the sea and all the studios have beautiful balconies of iron and wood, viewing towards the sea.
The studios are equipped with bath, refrigerator, kitchenette, TV, and air conditioning.
